We believe through living our values, building growth mindsets and professionally developing our staff we can build a safe and supportive learning environment.
GROWTH MINDSET
We are a ‘Growth Mindset’ School where we encourage students to take risks with their learning- to have a try with the confidence that it is okay to make mistakes. Learning and task mastery is a process – It’s not that we can’t do it…we just can’t do it yet!
BERRY STREET
We have embarked on the Berry Street Educational Model professional development program with a focus on positive education for academic and personal growth for all students.
SCHOOL WIDE ACKNOWLEDGEMENT SYSTEM
Upwey South Primary School’s acknowledgement system is an organised and consistent way to recognise students who meet your school’s behavioural expectations. The purpose of our acknowledgement system is to prompt adults to respond positively when a student engages in the behavioural expectations.
PROFESSIONAL SERVICES
Our learning environment is supported by visiting services, such as Counselling School Program, Speech Pathology and the School Nurse Program.
Inspire Health and Medical is partnering with our school!
We are pleased to share with you that our school has secured a partnership with Inspire Health and Medical (formerly Yarra Valley Psychology), to provide in-school counselling services to students.
Throughout schools across Victoria, student counselling is a much needed (and under resourced) service. Many of our families are currently experiencing first-hand the difficulties associated with trying to gain access to support services for their children. Therefore, we must be grateful that we have been presented with the opportunity to enter a partnership with Inspire, as the resources do not exist for this partnership to occur across schools within our region.
Our allocated and fully qualified School Counsellor is Carvin Winans. Check out the images below to find out a little more about Carvin.

LIVING OUR VALUES
We acknowledge and celebrate our students’ efforts to enact our school values with awards presented at our weekly and end of term whole school assemblies. Students can also get ‘caught out’ in the playground with our on-the-spot ‘Gotcha Awards’ for demonstrating values in action.
SCHOOL POLICIES
We also have a number of school policies that focus on Student and Community Welfare. You can review our policies in detail here.
